Freedom-to-operate searches identify potential barriers to the commercialization of products or technologies.  Issued and unexpired patents and potentially published patent applications can pose significant litigation risks and create a barrier to investment in your business.  We identify patent-related documents that help clients determine whether they can make, use, and practice a particular invention.

A standard Freedom-to-operate search includes:

  • A search of US patent references
  • A copy of our search history, including keywords and classification areas search
  • A detailed report describing all relevant patents identified and a summary of the scope of protection granted by the patent
  • Copies of all identified prior art references

For business concerned about international infringement risk, we can enlarge our search scope to include foreign patent documents.  If you would like to order a search please contact us.
